Digital Satellite TV For A Brighter Picture

Digital technology for television transmissions has been around for quite a while, it is what enables the video recorders to be utilized without the use of video tapes. Using digital satellite TV signals ensures that the picture quality is as close to high definition that can be obtained with fewer than three LNB inputs in your receiver.

The signals that are being bounced back to Earth by digital satellite TV companies can not be received or viewed by most analog systems and they offer a better quality reception over the distance they travel. One advantage that digital satellite TV signals have is that they can be redirected to multiple receivers, thus enabling you to view a different program on different receivers, that is if your satellite has been equipped with two or more LNB lines.

If you connect the same output from your receiver to multiple televisions will only enable you to view the same program on all of the TV sets connected. If you have connected a recorder to your digital satellite TV, video cassette or digital, with one LNB input you will only be able to record the channel you are watching. With a system that uses dual LND lines you would be able to record one program whilst you watch a different channel on your television set.

Digital Quality Is Better Than Analog Reception

The signals from a digital satellite TV system is less likely to suffer from interference from other electronic influences, such as weather patterns and spurious transmissions on the same frequency. This was the case with the old VHF and UHF broadcast frequencies. Whilst these signals could pass through certain barriers, the signal strength was significantly weakened as it traveled greater distances.

Digital satellite TV signals are collected by your satellite dish and then transmitted into the receiver inside your house where the signals are unscrambled and reformed into its digital format, which is based on the programming you have subscribed to and which is stored on the card inside your receiver unit. As changes are made to your programming options, the card is then updated with those changes by the company.

One drawback to digital satellite TV services is that heavy overcast skies can sometimes block the signal to your dish, just as a hill, a building or a tree can interfere. Though once the storm clouds have passed over the area then the signal and service will be automatically returned. When an outage takes place it will normally be for a very brief period, sometimes just for a few minutes, this of course depends on the thickness of the cloud cover and how fast it is passing overhead.
